Alternatives to Daylight Saving Time?

slashname3 This is not a problem (755 comments)

Do away with DST. If people want/need to get up earlier or later to take advantage of the daylight then JUST GET UP EARLIER OR LATER! There is no good reason to change the clock backward and forward. Lots of places don't do it and they don't have any problems. STOP DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!

Study: Warming doesn't fuel hurricanes

slashname3 slashname3 writes  |  more than 6 years ago

slashname3 (739398) writes "A new study by Tom Knutson shows that warmer temperatures will reduce the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic. This is the opposite of what Knutson has warned in the past about the dangers of global warming. The study was published online in the journal Nature Geoscience

In the study he predicts that the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic will fall by 18 percent. The number making landfall in the United States and its neighbors will drop by 30 percent.

So maybe those that say there is no link to global warming but that past storms are just part of natural multi-decade cycle are correct.

And how is this going to affect the insurance industry in Florida and along the gulf coast?"
