Storing Hydrogen At Room Temperature

slipangle Re:Importance of Hydrogen (152 comments)

Start out with your zeppelin full of hydrogen. Feed the hydrogen into the fusion reactor to produce power to run the engines. Feed the resulting helium back into the gas cells to maintain buoyancy.

The placebo effect doesn't work on me. I'm too skeptical of everything.

Neal Stephenson Says Video Games Are the Metaverse

slipangle Re:When on your deathbed... (176 comments)

the problem had persisted for years and had not responded to various drugs and a year of physical therapy providing plenty of time to heal on its own and for the placebo effect to kick in. At the time I felt that chiropractic was bullshit. It had to prove itself, which it did for my specific condition. YMMV just like conv medicine.

Neal Stephenson Says Video Games Are the Metaverse

slipangle Re:When on your deathbed... (176 comments)

Except when it's not bullshit. After my orthopedic surgeon shrugged his shoulders at me, I went across the street to a chiropractor. After 1 week I could walk normally again. You obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Artwork Re-Sells Itself Weekly On eBay

slipangle What ebay account? (372 comments)

Does it list itself with the owner's ebay ID or does it use the artist's ID? How does it know the owner's ebay password? I'm guessing the cube doesn't access ebay directly. It just pings the artist's server and the server does the ebay listing.

I had the opportunity to see Spitzer while it was being constructed at Ball Aerospace in Boulder. The solid beryllium mirror was quite beautiful.

FTC Rules Outlawing Robocalls Go Into Effect Next Week

slipangle Re:Political robocalls too? (277 comments)

Free Speech only applies to public places. My phone line is a private location. It's my choice what speech is allowed. Whenever a telemarketer calls, I ask them who gave them permission to use my phone line. They rarely have a response.

26 Years Old and Can't Write In Cursive

slipangle Re:Think it is bad now? (921 comments)

Not voice recog, brain recog. 50 years from now we'll be using 6th gen languages that simply respond to thought patterns through the transceivers implanted in our skulls at birth.

US Agency Blocked Cellphone / Driving Safety Study

slipangle Correlation does not imply causation (464 comments)

I think the people most likely to cause an accident are the ones most likely to talk on their mobile phones whilst driving. These people would be more likely to cause an accident even whilst not on their mobiles because they don't take driving seriously.

EEStor Issued a Patent For Its Supercapacitor

slipangle Fueling stations (603 comments)

Couldn't the fueling stations have there own banks of these supercaps to buffer the power? Most stations aren't used continuously, so they could be supplied with more conventional power feeds.

Battlestar Galactica Gets Spinoff Prequel Series

slipangle Re:So... (297 comments)

Looking at this and the rest of this thread, and the threads about ST:E, and all the others, makes me glad that I quit thinking several years ago. I realized that if I actually thought about what was happening on these TV shows and applied critical reasoning that I couldn't possibly enjoy them. So I just turn off my brain and become willfully ignorant. You should try it sometime. It not always easy. ST:V was such an appalling pile of shit that I had to stop watching. Of course, this doesn't apply to Firefly which was awesome.
