Former Director of the ISS Division At NASA Talks About Science Behind 'Elysium'

strikeleader Slanted views (366 comments)

Typical Hollywood slant on the state of the world. Always blame the rich, but they leave out themselves, for the problems of the world. None of this could happen if the government was not involved so blame the corrupt policies coming from our governments, yes that includes your lord and savior Obama. Can’t wait for the name calling to begin.

New CFAA Could Subject Teens To Jail For Reading Online News

strikeleader Re:What's the First Amendment? (230 comments)

I am surprised by this. You would think that the current administration would want to let all the young impressionable minds read the daily propaganda that the state run media regurgitates every day to keep them brain washed. After all you wouldn’t want them thinking for themselves.

For Sale: One Nobel Prize Medal (Slightly Used, By Francis Crick)

strikeleader Re:Finally available (179 comments)

Yes, how dare he make money and provide employment. Doesn't he know that the government wants people to be slaves to the entitlement mentality and them provide them with all sorts of free stuff, penalize them for trying to break their shackles and blame the conservatives for not doing enough.

You have to worry about paying taxes first. Zuckerberg gets a pass on that. It's good to have friends in the White House.

Oregon Lawmakers Propose Mileage Tax On Fuel Efficient Vehicles

strikeleader Re:He's lying (686 comments)

I like the fact that saying that some pay and some don't is unfair. How about the almost 50% of people that do not pay income tax, leaving the rest of us to pay for everything.

And isn't interesting how the so called "main stream" media is silent on this. Must be nice for Obama to have the media hiding all the negative from the American people

Too bad Apple is allowed to block another browser from being installed. Seeing as everyone is going after Microsoft for not allowing Firefox on 8RT why not do the same for Apple?

Interrupted Sleep Might Be the Best Kind

strikeleader Huh... (277 comments)

Really, just because our ancient ancestors slept in two chucks does that mean that we should? They also slept in caves and made tools from rocks and bones and had a life span half of ours, should we be doing that too? I am kind of thinking that evolution needs to step in here.

America's Future Is In Software, Not Hardware

strikeleader Re:America's future can be in both (630 comments)

We just need to do away with old labor intensive methods of manufacturing.

If we mechanize enough then the labor costs become irrelevant and we can bring the manufacturing home.

You missed the point, he needs labor intensive manufacturing to increase union labor that will get him re-elected. He wasn't giving the state of the union he was kicking off his re-election campaign.

States Using Cloud Based Voting System For Overseas Citizens

strikeleader Re:Why? (125 comments)

Is there a voting system that isn't vulnerable? Having people show up in person to vote has shown ineffective at keeping the dead from casting a ballot.

It is not only the dead but also the illegal's. But how else is a Democrat suppose to get elected.

If completed, the merger will create a telecom serving 37 states with about 5 million broadband customers and 17 million phone lines. Qwest (NYSE: Q) alone operates in Colorado and 13 other states.
The two companies reported a combined $19.8 billion in revenues in 2009.
The combined company would be the nation's No. 3 local-phone company, behind AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc."

Who Protects The Internet?

strikeleader strikeleader writes  |  more than 5 years ago

strikeleader (937501) writes "TechCrunch has an article from an interview with General Kevin Chilton, US STRATCOM commander and the head of all military cyber warfare. Who protects us? "Basically no one. At most, a number of loose confederations of computer scientists and engineers who seek to devise better protocols and practices — unincorporated groups like the Internet Engineering Task Force and the North American Network Operators Group. But the fact remains that no one really owns security online, which leads to gated communities with firewalls — a highly unreliable and wasteful way to try to assure security.""

Obama Accepting Untraceable Donations

strikeleader strikeleader writes  |  about 6 years ago

strikeleader (937501) writes "From the Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/10/28/AR2008102803413_pf.html "Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign is allowing donors to use largely untraceable prepaid credit cards that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor's identity, campaign officials confirmed."
Wow, what a great scam! No wonder why he didn't want public funds for his campaign."
