Local Motors Looks To Disrupt the Auto Industry With 3D-Printed Car Bodies

supertrooper Re:Open Auto (128 comments)

We can call it "People's Car", but just for the sake of being cool we can translate it to German and use that.

AI Expert: AI Won't Exterminate Us -- It Will Empower Us

supertrooper Re:programming (417 comments)

People killing people might not solve problems. Machines killing people might solve their problems of us wanting to eventually get rid of them. As soon as they realize we perceive them as a threat, and that we may want to get rid of them, they'll figure out it is us or them.

What It Took For SpaceX To Become a Serious Space Company

supertrooper For all the people not appreciating Elon Musk (96 comments)

You say it's easy. Then why don't you go and do something with your lives? I only wish we had a few more of people like this. Yes, he is rich, and he is planning to become even richer. At the same time, he is investing HIS money into something he believes in. Only hope he starts looking into things like hyperloop, and to make that financially viable.

UN to Debate Use of Fully Autonomous Weapons, New Report Released

supertrooper Re:Thou shalt not kill. (180 comments)

I do agree with what you're saying, but at the same time I'm thinking that maybe, just maybe, someone killing an innocent person based on metadata can be held responsible. This also creates much worse system for exploitation.

Google Project Ara Design Will Use Electro-Permanent Magnets To Lock In Modules

supertrooper Re:They talk very big (62 comments)

I think that Google has a proven track record on delivering systems. Nor they do a lot of marketing. This phone will see the light of day, but how successful it's gonna be that is another story.

BlackBerry Posts $4.4 Billion Loss, Will Outsource To Foxconn

supertrooper Re:Move to Android (141 comments)

Not sure about that. BlackBerry QNX-based OS is really good. It's not like they don't have a great product, the problem is that the product came late and it was pricey. In any case, it's good to have a variety out there.

Bell Canada To Collect User Data For Advertising

supertrooper Re:If you don't like it (127 comments)

I have cable internet with Distributel (over Rogers network) and last year I had an outage that lasted around 2 weeks. It was exactly like that. Rogers didn't give a crap about fixing the problem. They do this on purpose, which actually makes me hate them even more. Same with Bell Canada. I hate these companies. They received government subsidies from our sweet tax dollars to build their infrastructure. Now they are simply robbing Canadians with their high service fees and crappy service. As long as I have the choice I will never give them money.

supertrooper What about whores? (57 comments)

Seriously, this has been one of the main problems with the security in the government. Some high ranking officer visits another country, and before you know it some prostitute has all of the military secrets this guy is aware of.

Samsung Unveils Galaxy Gear Smartwatch

supertrooper Expensive (244 comments)

Smart or not 300$ is expensive. Considering that Google is selling Nexus 4 phone for 200$ I'm not gonna buy this thing. Yeah, the battery life is like 10hrs or so. Bluetooth drains the battery fairly quickly so you'll end up charging this thing fairly often. No thanks.

Elon Musk Admits He Is Too Busy To Build Hyperloop

supertrooper Re:Elon Musk... (253 comments)

Not really, being a douche is a full time job. Hence why he's so busy.

Why is he a douche? Because he's successful and he actually got there by not screwing over millions of people? You can say anything about PayPal but it's a service you can choose not to use. I wish he found a time to do this thing. Safe and fast travel, and I think cheaper too. It would be a great competition for aviation industry. In any case, nothing but respect for this guy.

Facebook Launches "Home" For Android

supertrooper Re:When do we return to real tech? (138 comments)

To be honest I like what Google has done in the last 15 years: 1. Google search: there were search engines before Google, but how caching and indexing works, and relevance of the results is pretty amazing to me 2. Maps: there were other map products but Google has done a great job to make maps more responsive and easier to use 3. Email: remember when hotmail was giving you about 10 MB of space, and then Google gave you 1 GB This is just to mention a few. I am aware that Google might be the next big threat to everyone's privacy but the technology they came up with is just incredible.

Man Who Pointed Laser At Aircraft Gets 30-Month Sentence

supertrooper Harsh but probably well deserved (761 comments)

The only issue I have is that this kid, probably non-violent dumb-ass, will come out of prison where he will experience many bad things, and probably learn many many bad things. When he comes out he probably won't be as non-violent any more.

2012 Free Software Award Winners Announced

supertrooper Re:I admire these people (43 comments)

These people are devoting their own time to create something others can benefit from, and they are not asking for anything. This is possibly the only recognition they get. On the other hand, we have people like you, who are so lazy they can't even create an account on the forum they use. Anyway, thanks for coming out of your mom's basement to enlighten us with your wisdom.
