Microsoft Killing Off Windows Phone Brand Name In Favor of Just Windows

synapse7 Re:Abject brand mismanagement (352 comments)

That is why most people are unable to update a windows 8 install. It is even a pain for me because I can't seem to push out some updates from WSUS and have to get these from the windows store, WTF. If there is a work around I haven't put out enough time to find it..

NVIDIA Sues Qualcomm and Samsung Seeking To Ban Import of Samsung Phones

synapse7 So.. (110 comments)

Is nvidia using patents on commonplace patents to get a piece of the pie they are jealous the don't have. Or are these legitimate patents and said companies are willfully stealing technology?
Keep in mind my next purchases for video cards and cell phones will depend on the answer..

AMD Releases New Tonga GPU, Lowers 8-core CPU To $229

synapse7 Re:gaming rig (98 comments)

The 6850 while not a bad card now, may struggle to play "next generation" games. That being said AMD cards like the 270x are dead cheap on ebay, or get a card in the $250-$300 range and that should work for a while.

The Pentagon's $399 Billion Plane To Nowhere

synapse7 Re:slight of hand (364 comments)

Having just watched the F-22 demo team, which was fucking amazing, I was curious about this. Seems the F-35 is purposed as a multi-role solution whereas the F-22 is designed for air superiority. The F22 can move the entire elevator surface and apparently with thrust vectoring (and probably some other shit I don't know about) can do some crazy low-speed maneuvers including hover vertically, stall turns and flat spins.

I have no idea the extent of this, but if enough legitimate customers were denied access to their content would this be grounds for a class action suit?
