AMD's Kaveri APU Debuts With GCN-based Radeon Graphics

theGreater Re:Looked into it for a friend's build (123 comments)

And they have spoken a bit of using both the integrated GPU and a discrete graphics card in tandem, similar to using two GPUs in Crossfire, but they haven't released the drivers for it, nor listed which cards will work, and the card they chose to demo it with was their bottom-end graphics card.

That's not very truthy:

Rob "CmdrTaco" Malda Resigns From Slashdot

theGreater Re:Thanks for all the Fish Wrapper (1521 comments)

Yeah, I spent many a night in college reading Slashdot instead of doing coursework. At work instead of being productive, I read Slashdot and Fark, then Slashdot and Digg, now Slashdot and Reddit... well, you get the idea.

I keep coming back for the comments and the people, trolls and all. Who hasn't wanted to flamebait every now and then? So from this little karma-moderated corner of the Internet, thanks. I eventually got my own Beowulf cluster thanks to you slags.

Intel Talks 1000-Core Processors

theGreater Re:Workaround, yeah (326 comments)

Now, if I could get one with over 1TB of RAM installed too, then I'd be in business.

If you're serious about this and your time is worth enough money, try a Dell r910 with 48 threads, 1TB of RAM, and 16 SSDs. More than enough PCIe I/O to add in a bunch of GPU's.

theGreater Re:Vertical Tabs (132 comments)

Prototype vertical tabs are enabled on Windows -- not sure about OSX or Linux. I'm on the dev schedule release, and I can just r-click and select "use side tabs". But as I said, prototype: no indentation, no tree collapse, and they open above instead of below your current tab.

Linux, Twitter, and Red Hat "Win" Big At Pwnie Awards

theGreater Re:'breaking the internet' (63 comments)

No, but there -has- been a mass breakout of 'hacked' Google Apps / Twitter accounts. What's that, social engineering and guessing of weak passwords? Well, that doesn't have the same cachet as poking fun at newsworthy companies, so we'll just sensationalize it and give it a misleading title instead.

-theGreater must be new here.
