Intel, Google Team To Optimize Android For Smartphones

thescooterman Optimize for what they already have! (187 comments)

My android phone is going down the same road my last windows machine did. Constant reboots, apps stop syncing, no network access, dropped calls, freezing apps, inexplicable application behavior, etc... . Maybe someone ought to fix what is in the wild before it causes people to jump ship (iphone 5 anyone?)

NY Governor Wants To Expand DNA Database

thescooterman Re:NYC Governor? (169 comments)

Solidarity reigns above the catskills! It's a magical land where people are happy, and don't plan on being knifed twice a day. Nor do we think that the Jersey shore is ' a calm little vacation destination where you can get away from it all ' ...

NY Governor Wants To Expand DNA Database

thescooterman Governor of the City, eh? (169 comments)

NYC is the city -- With *Mayor* Bloomberg ( ~ 305 sq. miles) NY is a state... (~ 54,475 square miles) ... and Patterson is the governor of the STATE (which does unfortunately have to deal with said 'tiny island')

Apple Removes Wi-Fi Finders From App Store

thescooterman Time to go Android! (461 comments)

I've been using Android for a while now, and except for the whole ' evil android overlords ' thing... I love it! The apps rock, and you can have what you want, not what someone else does[n't] want you to have.

Netflix Gauging Interest In an iPhone App

thescooterman Taking it to the masses (121 comments)

Netflix is really one of the only companies on the net to stop worrying about the technology and build kick-ass applications to provide a great service to their users. Although the implications of this on the network / device stack could be staggering[ly bad for networks], I think it's a truely powerful, world-changing 'app' that potential to take the internet from what it is today to further displacing traditional media outlets and actually 'synergizing paradigms'. ( Yes, I do feel dirty for my blatant utilization of the web bs generator:

Matt Asay Answers Your Questions About Ubuntu and Canonical

thescooterman Re:Bad answers. (244 comments)

Agreed, When you look at other 'stacks' in the computer world, what drives adoption of the OS / Database, etc.. is the stuff higher in the stack. For example: I don't ever want to buy Oracle database, I want to buy which REQUIRES Oracle. Same goes for the OS (with the exception of the mighty few found here on /.) nobody really wants an OS b/c they WANT an OS. They have a job to do, and getting that job done involves . To get the job done efficiently, they will buy whatever 'stack' is required. If canonical, with the momentum they've gained can look Adobe, etc... in the eye and say "Get yourself onto this platform or you will surely die"... THEN you'll see the uptake.

TSA Makes 4-Year-Old Take Off Leg Braces

thescooterman Re:USA: The worst tourist destination (27 comments)

The US has gotten progressively worse to visit. You guys need to stop this insanity.

YOU guys should stop breeding suicidal morons and teaching them how to pack explosives in their panties.
