Coffee Wards Off Cancer

timlyg Re:enough with the statistics (286 comments)

Well, what I think is very scientific about it is every time a statistical claim on cancer 'remedy' is announced, there is no subsequent analysis of the case. But I suppose due to the definition of 'statistics', they aren't treated as badly as those in homeopathy.

Why are all hopes of remedy in cancer stuck on statistics and not actual subsequent scientific medicine?

Is Setting Up an Offshore IT Help Desk Ethical?

timlyg Re:Any time you need to ask the question... (826 comments)

For everything in the universe, there is a balance.
Do countries really exist? If not what does patriotism mean? If yes is it unhypocritical to promote world peace?
When the rich are rich, at what point is that a privilege? and at what point not?
Greed triumphs over ideal, ideal triumphs over selfishness, selfishness triumphs over pragmatism, pragmatism triumphs over greed.
In the end, balance will be kept. Either nobody wins, or everyone loses.
Thus, identify your suffering, stop blaming others.
So go ahead, it's not only ethical to set up offshore business, it will be unethical not to. So some people will learn from hardship, the sweet labor of life.

A wise man once said:" remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise he bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony."

Bruce Schneier vs. the TSA

timlyg New revelation (741 comments)

I'm beginning to think this whole homeland security fad is just a way for those supposedly responsible trying to blame the historical faults on others such as the lowly security guards and the old speechless security system. Thus, seemingly making themselves innocent, while everyone else either suffers or become more obtuse:

Directors: Terrorists? Then go do more searches, buy more scanners, get more guards. Not our faults, don't look at us. More problems, then do more of the above and everyone must wear a tracking device at all times, more problems, sure we'll come up with something, but don't ever blame on us.

Hawking Picks Physics Over God For Big Bang

timlyg Re:But what created the law of gravity? (1328 comments)

you missed the point.
I am talking about what created gravity, how is gravity existing.

That is the topic of this thread. Go drink some coffee.

I can probably guess how you're going to respond...so allow me to predict my response to that: It's a coward's world.

Getting Online B.S. Degree for Math or Physics

timlyg timlyg writes  |  more than 6 years ago

timlyg writes "After googling for quite sometime, frustrated with useless unaccredited offers, scarce offers of online B.S. degree and not able to get a bigger picture of tuition fees comparison between schools, I decided to try Slashdot for help. Where can I get, or obtain resources for, an online/correspondence bachelor science degree for majors like Mathematics or physics with reasonable low tuition fee (for the below average salary class) from an accredited college/university, which doesn't have too be a prestigious one. Time is not MUCH of an issue, that means I am not in too much of a rush to get the degree, just need to be able to pay (Without the need to get loan or financial aids) and accumulate my credits online or via corresponding. Thank you."

Enough with the Futile Immigration Debates

timlyg timlyg writes  |  more than 6 years ago

Timothy (266415) writes "Are we really stopping terrors and crimes by tightening the gates of our immigration system? Because of our current system, especially after 9/11, I see many good, responsible and hard working people in the States are prevented from reaching their full potential for our country, I see good people leaving the country for good and now let me turn the attention to those who have been "legally treated" as illegal immigrants because our system has allowed those who are richer, those who are more cunning, to have easier paths to obtain green cards than these poor patriot wannabe's. As a result, we have more irresponsible immigrants than we used to, in addition to some of our own citizens who are already lazy and hoping to be further pampered by Uncle Sam. And we see more and more irresponsible and cranky staffs being OFFICIALLY hired in so many minimum wage departments, just so they wouldn't do anything else stupid. What a challenge! Is this really where our country is heading? For those who want harsher laws against illegal immigrants, do you truly know all of them or are you only motivated by certain terrorist events? For those who want leniency towards illegal immigrants, have we really given deeper thoughts on this issue so it is practical enough to profit a country that values human lives or are we already satisfied at minor benefits such as the increase of tax payers?"
