Supreme Court to Take Up DeCSS Case

tswinzig Re:what about my backups! (154 comments)

This is why this whole case is stupid.

The MPAA claims they want to stop pirates. But you don't need to decrypt a DVD's contents to pirate the movie. Just burn exact duplicates of the DVD you've already got. Your DVD player already has DeCSS built-in, so to speak.

This is not about pirating or your ability to make backup copies of DVD.

Changing Goals

tswinzig tswinzig writes  |  more than 11 years ago

If 1776 was good enough for the founding fathers, it's good enough for me. Slashdot has been pretty annoying lately. I find I'm reading FARK twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, instead of Slashdot.

It's much faster to scan the headlines, you don't get the clueless (and poorly spelled) opinions of the "editors," and there are copious links to BOOBIES.

Goals for 2003

tswinzig tswinzig writes  |  more than 11 years ago

My goal for 2003 is to eventually post my 2003rd slashdot comment, and then never come back.

Pretty weird, huh kids?

Bonus points if my last 5 comments are all rated +5.
