Apple Has Too Much Money

werdnapk Give back to the developers (570 comments)

The developers are the ones who have helped Apple get where it is by developing apps for their iOS platforms, so why not reduce the 30% cut they take from each app sale to at least 25% or even 20%.

Ask Slashdot: How To Get Non-Developers To Send Meaningful Bug Reports?

werdnapk Re:MadExcept! (your app should send bugreports) (360 comments)

And how are you addressing the issues of non-crashing bugs with your reply? You've added nothing here I'm afraid. Crash reports are a fairly simple task to implement.

Ask Slashdot: How To Get Non-Developers To Send Meaningful Bug Reports?

werdnapk Re:Make it send data to you (360 comments)

Yes, a crash report can be sent by an application, but a non-crashing bug? If the bug isn't caught by tests (automated or manual) then the software won't know to send an issue like that, otherwise it wouldn't have been a bug in the first place.

Canada Rolls Out Plastic Money

werdnapk Re:Hmmm.... (444 comments)

Coins go in my pocket, bills go in my wallet. I don't like a thick wallet and if it is, I'd prefer it being filled with bills that are actually useful such as $5 and above. Why have 5 $1 bills taking up the space of 1 $5 bill? No thank you. Coins are also easier to use in machines (vending, tranist, etc.)... no need to press coins flat multiple times until they're accepted. If a big wad of $1 or $2 bills makes you feel rich or is used to impress the ladies then I guess you have a point.

Canada Rolls Out Plastic Money

werdnapk Re:Hmmm.... (444 comments)

Nothing gave me the idea that you're talking about American money, which is why I said I'd take the loonie and twoonie any day (over bills).

Canada Rolls Out Plastic Money

werdnapk Re:Hmmm.... (444 comments)

Canadian here and I spend a lot of time in the states and I really don't like a pile of american $1 bills taking up room in my wallet; they're quite useless afaic. I'll take the loonie and twoonie any day.

10-Year Study Reveals Electron Shape

werdnapk Re:Curious question (370 comments)

An ellipsoid (shape of the Earth) could have been another possible shape for an electron I suppose. The earth bulges due to gravity and centrifugal forces from it's spin. An electron spins too, but if it's a near perfect sphere then this spin doesn't appear to have any effect on its shape, nor does gravity... as far as we can tell so far I guess. Interesting.

The Cost of US Security

werdnapk Re:too positive (456 comments)

Clarification... the Iraq war was for oil disguised as a war for security. What the US did in Iraq is nothing short of craptastic.

Android 3.0 Is Trickling In, But Are the Apps?

werdnapk Re:What's different (231 comments)

Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) was developed with tablet type computers in mind and is not meant for smartphones. Android 2.x apps will still work, they just won't be optimized for the interface.

New Zealand Government Opens UFO Files

werdnapk Pre-1952? (100 comments)

So why no reports from before 1952? Roswell incident occurred in 1947. I imagine before this people just attributed "UFO"s to natural "unexplained" causes, but then Roswell got so much exposure that I guess it made more sense for people to take the easy way out and say it's aliens. We're still discovering amazing natural occurrences in our atmosphere.

I'm not saying a UFO have never stopped by to take a look, but 99.999% of reports are likely explained by natural causes.

1928 Time Traveler Caught On Film?

werdnapk Re:Huh (685 comments)

Or they're simply covering their face with their hand. Looking at the footage, I see nothing in the persons hand. What looks like something black in the ladies hand is just her hair. Nothing to see here folks.
