New Lithium-Air Battery Delivers 10 Times the Energy Density

xutopia I love all these green techs (281 comments)

Unless they are in the store at an affordable price it doesn't matter to me. Seriously if a battery that is lighter than air and can go on for 12 months straight without recharge but cost 1 billion dollar do you think you will have one in your ipod tomorrow? These promises of great technologies are nice and all... but it's just R&D until it's feasible in the market.

World of Warcraft 3.1 Patch Brings Dual-Specs, New Raid

xutopia Re:How I longed to dual-spec.... (204 comments)

Druids and paladins had the same disadvantage. In PVE they were both expected to be healbots but that build was useless while grinding or PVP.

World of Warcraft 3.1 Patch Brings Dual-Specs, New Raid

xutopia Re:How I longed to dual-spec.... (204 comments)

I was a druid and many of the things I complained about made it to the game after I quit (reduction of aggro in feral cat, strength to healing ability conversion, etc...).

The one thing I cannot ask from the game is that it takes so damn fucking long to do the things I wanted to do and *most* end-game guilds are full of dysfunctional sociopaths I care not to associate with.

Now I play volleyball, go out with real friends and do contract work on my free time. Life is so much better!

Oklahoma, Vatican Take Opposite Tacks On Evolution

xutopia Re:My only problem with Dawkins is.. (1161 comments)

What's disrespectful about his point of view? Does he make fun of religious people? Pointing out that their beliefs are ludicrous is one thing. He's not calling them stupid or retarded when doing so. I offend smokers when I tell them they are smoking in a spot they aren't allowed to. Is it my intention to offend them? No. It's their fault for smoking there in the first place.

Oklahoma, Vatican Take Opposite Tacks On Evolution

xutopia Re:OU Student Here (1161 comments)

Anti-abortionist take an unreasonable approach to limit abortion. They feel as though a bunch of cells that cannot possibly have a consciousness yet have the same human value as a late term fetus. I'm pro-choice up until the point where the fetus develops a conscious brain. When anti-abortionists put up pictures of late term abortions they build a straw man and misrepresent me. It's disingenuous and offends me.

iRobot Develops Hamster-Guided Robotic Vacuum

xutopia Re:that won't work (108 comments)

Pretty sure that inside that ball the hamster doesn't know where the fuck he is and walks in random ways. That being said humans do the same as other mammals in regards to what's safe. We even step on exactly the same spot as the person in front of us when walking single file.

Ultrasound Machine Ages Wine

xutopia Re:It would be cool (448 comments)

I partake in blind wine tasting nights quite often. Sometimes I organize, sometimes my brother does. There is a correlation with better wine being better more often. That being said you should know that an old Chateau with a good reputation will be able to charge more just because of their name and a newcomer won't. So expensive doesn't necessarily mean good but it allows you, if you know your way around a bit might help you out in determining which wine to drink and which not to in a restaurant.

I immediately thought of Slashdot users. Surely some of you would have some great coffee machines to propose for our review... or better yet could let us know which machine is most easily hackable. coffee — sugar 1 — milk 2 anyone?"
