M*A*S*H is on...
To be fair, M*A*S*H isn't that bad compared to some of the crap that gets repeated. If you're bored for half an hour and have nothing better to do there are a lot of worse things on.
Plus despite the sheer volume of repeats, there are a lot of people under 40 who haven't seen many of episodes.
That being said, I watch about 6 hours of TV a year these days.

We have a couple of "Nostalgia Channels" around--MeTV [metvnetwork.com] and Antenna TV [antennatv.tv]. I recently spent some time in a hospital (and recuperating at home) and got hooked on Adam-12 [wikipedia.org].
Some of those old shows are amusing to watch with a contemporary eye.

I would have voted for Marvel Agents of Shield, but there aren't enough actual Marvel Characters in the show. I want to see superheroes, and Marvel has a whole bunch of awesome ones, but Agents of Shield is still too reluctant to add superhumans.
Of course, I understand that's because Marvel sold its right to have mutants to one company, and Spiderman to another, and the rest of the universe to Disney... so who knows what you're gonna get!?

Marvel sold ITSELF to Disney. It is a wholly owned operating unit at Disney now, just like Lucasfilm and Star Wars. What you ought to be watching for is Luke and Leia showing up as Force enabled superbeings opposing a Villainous Vader (aided by Maleficent) on an Avengers themed Agents of Shield, with Snow White, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel and the other princesses (and their cute animal friends) all lending a hand. All on the Disney owned ABC network of course, with ESPN calling the play by play destruction

While I agree, I do wish they'd tie into the heavy-hitters a bit more. The entire end of Season 1, with the Hydra / Winter Soldier tie in was good stuff -- as was the whole T.A.H.I.T.I. thing, and it's link to being a safety valve for a fallen Avenger. [...although they seem to have created more of a back-story with that in S2.] Similarly, using Lady Sif in the "Yes Men" episode provided a hint of the show having a tie-in to the post-Avengers battle of New York world.

Since becoming single again a couple of years back, my TV watching has dropped to zero. I now spend my time doing other things I enjoy like hiking, motorcycling, reading, playing guitar, or just sitting and reading.

I have a couple of TVs but use them mainly for watching a DVD or playing Rocksmith. When the friends are over for a night of gaming, I may have something like Monty Python, Office Space, or Shawn of the Dead (for example) on as background humor. I probably should be clearer and say I don't watch broadcast TV.

I did buy the Walking Dead DVD set and watch it so I do like that show. I just don't watch it when it comes on, whenever that is :)

mmm... not sure. Signatures use cursive, if not much else does. How important it is that signatures be in cursive, I couldn't say for sure, but it _seems_ like it would be a little harder to forge.

people with brain injuries often maintain their ability to read cursive.
Business transactions that require a signature (you've covered that, but are you aware that banks require specimen signatures in cursive and will REJECT any that are not?).
Calligraphy (OK it's more about the art form these days but that shouldn't diminish it as a writing style).
Cursive writing, for those who have learned it early, is very often faster than block. Hell, I write faster than I type, and I can exceed 75wpm on the keyboard.

Yes, it tells people you don't like what is on TV even though you may have never seen it. However, I've not watched broadcast TV for over seven years and every time I peek on TV shows I am surprised how little the damned thing has changed.

Bars have TV, for example. I'm seeing enough to realize there's nothing there that might keep me interested. The few TV series I am interested in can be bought on DVD. No endless commercials, no cable TV price, etc.

Actually I clicked on Walking Dead since I do buy the DVDs and watch them.
I rented the Heroes first season because of a friend's recommendation and enjoyed it enough to try and watch the second season on TV but the constant commercials were so annoying I stopped.
I do have a problem maintaining a schedule though. The only reason I caught some shows was because my ex would watch them. When her gone, I can't be bothered to remember when a show is on and I'd miss it. After missing a few, I simply stopped trying

Ex wife actually. She was the TV watcher and being the dutiful husband, I'd sit with her. After she bailed, I started doing what I wanted around the house as listed. Eventually I realized that I wasn't watching TV and flipped my cable over to Internet/Basic Cable.

You might be able to save even more money by specifically asking for "naked" internet (actual keyword used by Verizon and maybe others) with no TV or phone service bundled.
It can be a bit of a hassle sometimes because they try to tie your bill to your home phone number which you don't have.

Personally I watch TV in the garden. The glare is pretty bad on sunny days so I put a large blanket over the my head/TV.

Sure. I find I'm more interested in other things and basically have no time to turn on the TV and sit and watch it. Since I have a hard time with keeping up on regular schedules, I tend to be doing something else I want to do when whatever show I might be interested in is on. If it's a good enough show per my friends, I might pick up the DVDs and watch them though, like the Walking Dead which I enjoy. On DVD :)

Takes about halfway through Season 1 for Agents of SHIELD to really come together, bout the time Winter Soldier came out, and the series tied into the MCU more solidly as a backdrop for the overall series storyline, but it's really solid now.
Arrow is pretty good once you get past the CW's penchant for having shows look like overly photoshopped supermodel showcases (and face it, the cast is pretty good looking, both genders). The main actor carries it well and the cast overall has decent chemistry.

Season 2 AoS has been lights out, but Season 1 was so horrifically bad, I still hold a grudge against the showrunners for wasting my time for so many weeks. And I'll probably have to waste another week devising a season one guide, where I tell you what episodes are good, and important to following the season, and write summaries for the episodes to skip.

What exactly does "live-action" mean anyway? I read that to mean the broadcast was "live". That would invalidate all options except C-Span since the other shows are recorded.

Live-action, while not necessarily the best term, is commonly used to distinguish television made by filming actors with a camera from that made by animation processes (hand-drawn or CGI).

For the life of me I don't get the fascination my generation has with comic books. They were great when we were 10. We're now 40. The stories aren't that great, nor the characters that interesting. Stop it with putting this childish stuff in every form of media and pretending like it's high art.

I never really "got" Marvel-style superhero comics, though. I admit I only really read Nth-man when I was a kid, but most of them just seemed to exist to feed unhealthy psychological issues.

Being of a certain age, I grew up on Pogo (Walt Kelly). The collected strips are FINALLY being reissued - vols 1 and 2 are out, and 3 is due soonish.
Doonesbury popped up just in time to take over, but it took Watterson to bring the joy and subversion back to the comics page.
I'm guessing comics have replaced church and sports for a lot of nerds and geeks, so they get the devotion and energy the former, um, formerly did.

Not sure if you want a real response, or just want to be smug... but that's just willful ignorance.
Up until CG got good, superhero comic books were pretty much the only feasible way to enjoy action/adventure/scifi visual storytelling with an unlimited budget. Even now, comic stories are consistently more experimental and creative than they can be when millions (or even billions) of movie and TV dollars are at stake.

The people in Walking Dead all act like sociopaths - even the good guys. They totally fail to create a working society to defend themselves and attack their enemies, something that even lunatic killers like ISIS can do.
None of them have any idea how to protect themselves from lets face - the stupidest human beings in the world that only have numbers going for them.
The main reason every geek in the world has an anti-zombie plan is that it is so freaking easy to create a working anti-zombie plan.
The other shows have superheros and magic. Both of those are FAR more believable and realistic than Walking Dumb and living Dumber.

OK, Utopia [imdb.com] is neither based upon a comic or, technically, current (since its been cancelled*) but it does feature a fictitious comic book as a plot device and the cinematography is heavily influenced by comic book art (if you like over-saturated colour, you're in for a treat).
Not for the faint hearted or easily offended, though.
(* but it does come to a reasonably satisfying conclusion so don't let that deter).
Of the official list: only really seen two: SHIELD is OK (but it ain't Firefly, although 'the bus' looks hauntingly familiar from some angles) and Gotham is rather good (and certainly isn't like any Batman story you've seen - I just hope they keep their nerve and don't break out the tights, top-hats and make-up until the last ever episode).

I don't think it was cancelled, in the sense that it was never implemented as a series in the way a traditional US series is implemented (100 episodes to guarantee syndication etc.)
Well, that's true of virtually all UK shows (and they're generally better for it). I think "cancelled" is still appropriate when the creators looked set to continue but the channel pulls the plug for commercial reasons (which seems to be the case for Utopia) c.f. ones that are intentionally concluded like "Life on Mars".
Of course, with some shows its hard to tell a cliffhanger from a conclusion.
It really, really annoys me when shows end the season without resolving anything - have the makers never heard

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Absolutely love this show! Sure, the beginning was a bit slow and rocky, but after seeing The Winter Soldier in the theatres it made sense - they couldn't really build up to it during the season or it'd ruin the movie. I've been really enjoying ever since and I can't wait to see what Age of Ultron does to the show afterward, or how the show plays into Age of Ultron (Fury isn't the director anymore, Phil is so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out).

While still fairly new, I've been enjoying it so far. Like how they're filling in some of the backstory on the first Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D, and can't wait to see where they take it - and what interesting tidbits and teasers they're going to put in for the Team Coulson.

Could they have made a better show, I really doubt it! I have nothing to say for this one other than if you haven't seen it you need to rectify it ASAP.

Gotham
Never watched it, will not watch it. Not because I don't want to, the reviews look good and people are saying great things about it, but because its on Fox. After being burned by them so many times I'm afraid of watching the show and liking it, only to turn around and watch it get cancelled on some cliffhanger (I'm looking at you Firefly, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Brisco County Jr., Tru Calling, etc..)
The Flash
When asked what superpower you'd take most people say flight, I'm afraid of heights so I always go with speed. The Flash has long been one of my favourite superheroes (DC really needs to make a Flash movie instead of dicking around with Superman / Batman all the time) and also enjoyed the '90s flash with John Wesley Shipp, so I was really excited about the new Flash. So far I've been liking it, its had some rocky episodes - but I'm liking the slow progression of Barry's character and the little team he's building up around him.
I'm not sure it'll last long though, those special effects can't be cheap - one of the major downfalls of the original '90s flash (okay, okay, there was bad writing there too - though the episodes got much better toward the end) - and I'm thinking the ratings will be need to be higher than average to justify the cost.
The Walking Dead
Watches the first season, enjoyed it. But the second season really got slow, and boring. Every episodes seemed to devolve into the same overall plot:
* Go somewhere for something needed on the farm.
* Generally act like dicks to each other.
* Stop a whole fucktonne of "Walkers".
* Resolve to be better people.
* Do it again in the next episode.
A zombie show just doesn't work if you stay in one place too long - unless they're Resident Evil types, which run fast and chase you down - they're really easy to avoid. Once you've hunkered down, unless you're an idiot and draw attention to yourself you just won't have to deal with them much.
I've heard the Prison season was pretty good, so I might go back and finish The Farm - but honestly, I was liking "Z Nation" way more than "Walking Dead".

NBC has been frustratingly ambiguous concerning whether or not Constantine has been cancelled. They refuse to state it one way or the other. They failed to order the back nine episodes for Season 1 (obviously a bad sign), but since that deadline passed, they've gone so far as to give it a much better time slot (obviously a good sign).
The conspiracy theorist in me can't help but wonder if this is some kind of marketing ploy: if they never intended to cancel it, but kept things ambiguous solely to whip up the

Spoiler: Gordon survives to become police commissioner, young Bruce Wayne survives and grows up to be Batman, Selena Kyle survives and becomes Catwoman; Cobblepot survives and takes to wearing a tux and top hat; several "good" characters with familiar names and hints of a "dark side" survive and turn into villains; while any character that doesn't appear in the comics probably won't survive a cliffhanger.

The horrible Keanu Reeves movie was an "adaptation" (albeit a very, very loose one) of the comic. It may help to think of the series as what the movie could have been if it were actually done right.
There is a story arc at one point in the comics where the title character has to deal with a demon created from himself. It's my personal opinion that if the TV show ever does this arc, they should try to get Keanu Reeves to play the demon. It breaks from the comics a bit (since the comic book version of the demo

Very cool, Also cool that Barry Allen's dad is the actor who played Barry Allen in the 1990s series. Awesome.
Plus now they've worked in Amanda Pays as almost an alternate universe version of the character she played in the 1990s show.
