So, the alternative to polls with bad/incomplete choices or polls that are clearly slashvertisements is polls which are hyperspecific and appeal to only a limited set of individuals? Or is this a response to comments about polls being too US-centric?

I know lots of people who travel internationally for conferences. It's not the majority, but it happens.

They missed Embedded Systems Week (Oct. 04-09, 2015) in Amsterdam. This is three conferences/workshops co-located for easier attendance.

I do not live in Asia but would really like to go to the beaches in Bali (I think) .... doesn't mean I will in the near future ....
So I guess the poll somewhat enabled ./ to find out the "brogrammers" and "pseudo tech hipsters", ... will they be punished ? maybe additional ads for self help books ? and get rich quick schemes ? ...
BTW Fossdem is really cool, but granada in September is still quite warm :) and only one hour from the beach :)

I don't live in Europe, but that doesn't make me want to pick the insensitive clod option. Rather, I'd pick the conference in the city I'd most like to visit and use it as an excuse for travel.

Ok, UK in November isn't as nice as Amsterdam in the summer, but whatever, as long as the conference is either interesting or short. I do computer security, obviously CCC Camp would be work-related! (Yeah, right, I don't even get comped for train fare up to San Francisco without lots of bureaucracy, since it's about the same distance as my office :-) Back in the old days, we could at least go to one or two technical conferences a year in the US.)
